Somebody came to someone and said, “Hey, we can be millionaires if we just bring back hemp! Want to help?”
This is how I imagine it started, at least in part. And remember, I’m looking back over the past year, so I have the emotions that go along with the memory to shade it darker or lighter.
I should tell you now, I’m speaking as a mother and farmer/rancher’s wife. I’m speaking as a woman wondering where all this leaves her family and what part we should or shouldn’t play. I’m speaking as a Christian who believes firmly in being honest on all fronts and who daily. . . . no secondly lives by the golden rule. “Treat others as you would have them treat you.”
But let’s back up and start from the beginning, because all in all, it has been a wonderful, crazy ride.
When we first started, we had a dream (of course, because that’s where anything starts), a son graduating from college, a father, a daughter, three more sons, and a mother. . . . . and a small farm in North Central Montana that we had been working on for about twelve years.
In all actuality, it wasn’t that glamorous. It was Christmas and our son, Rob Klingaman, was getting ready to graduate from college. We were having dinner at my family’s home and Robby, in true Robby fashion, showed up before us. We walked in and could immediately tell that something was happening, something that may cause some “hmmmmm” moments.
“What’s up?” I cornered Robby as he tried to dismiss the conversation we interrupted. In true mom fashion I did not let the subject drop until I got an answer.
Finally he answered, “Mom, I’ not going to finish the interviews for medical school. I’m going to start a hemp farm and produce CBD oil.”
I won’t lie to you, I was pissed. Then he kept talking and I could see his passion and noted his thorough knowledge of the oil thus far.”
It was his life, his decision, so I decided to support him. His dad came around a year later and decided to support him to the tune of fifty acres.
Stay tuned. This will be a fun, educational ride you can go on with us, revealing some of the ins and outs of the new hemp industry. We will tell you the good, the bad, and the ugly, so to speak. And at times I’ll try to tell you it’s just the hemp industry, but in reality, it may just be our world as a whole, but we’ll let you decide.
So proud of you guys! Amazing product by amazing people.
